Welcome Letter From the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Office of Faculty, I am delighted to welcome you to our website. As Senior Associate Dean for Faculty, it is my privilege to lead a team wholly dedicated to your success. Whether you are a clinician, investigator, educator, or serve in multiple roles, our shared purpose is to ensure that every member of our faculty community is fully and properly supported across every stage and dimension of your career.
Our work is carried out through a collaborative network of offices, each contributing distinct expertise while working in close coordination. Together, we provide a comprehensive approach to faculty support that spans career development, mentoring, workplace culture, inclusion, and professional standards. Below is a brief introduction to each office and how it serves you.
Office of Faculty Affairs
The Office of Faculty Affairs safeguards our standards for the appointment and promotion of faculty. It oversees the policies and procedures governing academic appointment, reappointment, promotion, tenure, and separation, and serves as a trusted resource for academic career development from initial appointment through promotion and retirement. The office also serves as the official source of faculty data in support of our administrators, committees, and boards.
Office of Faculty Development
The Office of Faculty Development is dedicated to building and sustaining faculty vitality through the recruitment, retention, and advancement of a dynamic and successful faculty community. Through advocacy, programs, and events, it produces offerings that enhance academic skills and optimize career success, collaborates with departments on initiatives that promote well-being, mentorship, promotion, and leadership, and supports faculty excellence across clinical, educational, and investigational endeavors.
Office of Faculty Engagement and Inclusion / Office of Culture, Inclusion & Employee Experience
The Office of Faculty Engagement and Inclusion advances a thriving academic community by fostering an inclusive culture that acknowledges, appreciates, and respects faculty individuality and intersectionality. Through intentional engagement, leadership development, and supportive initiatives, it promotes the personal and professional growth and well-being of all faculty. In partnership, the Office of Culture, Inclusion & Employee Experience works with institutional stakeholders to strengthen a culture of equity and belonging, developing programs, standards, and best practices that help all employees thrive in a respectful and engaging environment.
Office of Professionalism
The Office of Professionalism upholds our culture of integrity and the highest standards of professional conduct. Guided by our Weill Cornell Medicine S.H.A.R.P. values — Safety, Honesty, Accountability, Respect, and Professionalism — the office establishes goals for professionalism, oversees related policies and procedures, advises individuals and departments, and coordinates education and training that support professional growth across our community.
As we continue to expand and refine these efforts, your engagement makes us stronger. I warmly invite you to explore the resources available throughout this website and to reach out whenever we can be of help. Please know that the Office of Faculty is here to ensure you are fully and properly supported in your work and in your career.
